! NEWS ! 07-24 FixC cooperative exhibits works from VILKE collection and from MUTA collection in Poriginal Gallery, Pori 21.9-8.10.2024.

This time, the VILKE event will focus on presenting the works of FixC cooperative member artists. The screening starts with older works Seppo Renvall's Untitled 2 (1998), where experimental 16mm film is accompanied by the music of Manchester DJ Frost and Mash-D and Juha van Ingen's H.B. The Stake Out (2012), based on the film Gone in 60 seconds (1974) directed by H.B. Halick. The brand-new films in the screening are Kari Yli-Annala's Sielun painovoima (Gravity of the Soul), which is dedicated to Jacob Böhme (1575–1624), a cobbler and Christian mystic who wrote about the forces of the universe and inspired Isaac Newton, who invented gravity, and Lasimestari, luultavasti... (The Glazier, probably...) which is a comment on the discussion of racism and religious undercurrents in our culture. Jarkko Räsänen shows his Kultama (2022) which is a pilgrimage through the information Amazon and his latest film ALTLANTI, an AI-assisted dream of a lost continent. We are also proud to present a unique series of new short films created by Erkka Nissinen! Most of the films are premiered in Finland in this screening. Nissinen's works highlight the difficulties of social interaction, philosophy and media language.
<<<<<>>>>> FixC cooperative collaborates 1.9.-22.9.2022 with: TeleNFT, ORF TELETEX and ARD Text. in Teletext is Art The teletext exhibition “Teletext is Art” will be shown in a presentation at Deep Space 8K in Ars Electronica Center during Ars Electronica festival 2022. Five of the participating artists present their artworks, provide insights into the technical implementation of teletext artworks and the aspect of immortalization as NFTs in the blockchain. Teletext was launched by the BBC in 1974, ORF and ARD started their teletext offers in 1980; technically there have been hardly any changes since then. A teletext page is based on a grid of 24 rows and 40 columns. Each grid part can be used for a letter, number, special character, control character or up to six graphic pixels. And there are only six colours, black and white. The works presented are characterized by their conscious handling of medium and context. Because of its technical limitations, teletext awakens very specific, reduced aesthetic expectations. Some works play with this ironically by producing even lower levels of detail, sometimes at great expense. Normally teletext users expect teletext, as a platform, to provide them with service information and news. Some of the participating artists also address current socially and politically relevant topics and do so – as expected and demanded of art – in a thoroughly critical manner. For the first time for ORF TELETEXT and ARD Text, the topic of NFT is highlighted. The 15 artists involved are very familiar with NFT technology and were both the first to store teletext art as NFT on a blockchain and the first to show blockchain-based art on teletext. Several works in “Teletext is Art” therefore also thematically address the relationship between the crypto world and the classical financial world. All works shown are also intended for sale as NFT. Apart from the Ars Electronica Festival Teletext is Art can also be explored on your television (ORF Teletext starting from page 560 or ARD Text starting from page 830) or on www.teletextart.com <<<<<>>>>>
